Majestic Princess Cabin M104 Review – Obstructed Deluxe Balcony (And Why We Love It)

We just got back from an incredible cruise around Italy, Greece, and Montenegro, and this time we stayed in one of my absolute favourite cabin types, a Deluxe Balcony with an obstructed view. Now, I know that might sound like a compromise, but hear me out: this room is a hidden gem, especially for the price! Here’s a full review of Cabin M104 on Majestic Princess, part of Princess Cruises’ Royal Class ships, and why I think you might want to consider one of these on your next cruise.

Ship Overview: Majestic Princess
Majestic Princess is one of seven Royal Class ships in the Princess Cruises fleet. She launched in 2017 and carries 3,560 passengers and 1,346 crew. I won’t dive too much into the ship itself here (there’s a full ship tour video coming soon!), but it’s worth knowing that Majestic offers a familiar layout to anyone who’s sailed on Sky Princess, Enchanted, or Discovery.

Where Is Cabin M104?
Cabin M104 is located right at the front of the ship on the Marina Deck, tucked away at the end of the corridor. This makes it an incredibly quiet location, you won’t get any passing foot traffic except for guests staying in neighbouring rooms.
Important Tip: If you suffer from motion sickness, this cabin might not be the best fit. Being so far forward and on a high deck means you’ll really feel the ship’s movement.
Room Layout & Storage
The layout is really practical. As you enter: Wardrobe and bathroom are to the right, the bed is centrally placed, and the sofa sits by the balcony doors. The large open wardrobe is great for a 2-week cruise. There’s drawer space, a compact safe, and shelves for folded clothes. The safe works with a 4-digit code (ours needed to be held shut to lock).

Sleeping Area
The bed is two singles pushed together, super comfy and no seam in the middle. There are bedside tables with drawers and lamps, plus light controls on both sides. One downside: only one power socket on the left-hand side of the bed.

Desk & Power Setup
The desk area has US and EU sockets but no USB ports. The chair is comfortable enough to work from. Bring adapters if you’re coming from the UK.

Kettle Watch: The Great UK Debate
No kettle in the room unless you’re sailing from or back to the UK. We managed to get one between two rooms by asking, but they’re in limited supply.
Storage Cabinet & Fridge
Next to the desk is a storage unit with a hairdryer in the drawer and a mini-fridge. Soft drinks are no longer free, $3 per can with a 25% discount if you have a drinks package. I bring squash from home to mix with sparkling water, lifesaver!
Sofa Bed & TV
The sofa bed is suitable for smaller guests, but not ideal for two adults. The wall-mounted TV is brilliant for movie nights in bed. Princess offers a great selection of films and shows.

Bathroom Tour

Compact yet functional. Big sink, nice-smelling hand lotion and body wash, and proper shelves for toiletries. The shower is a decent size with a curtain that behaves. There’s a grab rail for safety, and water pressure was solid. Only real complaint: the toilet roll holder is in a terrible spot. Also be careful with the shower curtain, make sure its inside the lip on the shower or the floor gets a wash too
The Star of the Show: The Obstructed Balcony
This is why we booked this cabin. The balcony is solid metal instead of glass, but it’s HUGE. You get chairs, footrests, and a proper table, great for relaxing. You won’t get panoramic port views, but you gain privacy and loads of space. In our opinion, it’s worth the trade-off.
Final Thoughts
M104 is a bit of a secret bargain. If you don’t mind the solid balcony front, you’ll get more room and a quieter experience for less money. It’s our second favourite cabin type, only beaten by an aft balcony. Would you book one like this? Let us know in the comments!
